The idea of gifting can be very tedious and confusing. And because people differ,
we have subconsciously fallen into using stereotypes which often leads us astray.
You can end up gifting the wrong person the wrong type of gift only because you
Failed to be a bit more observant. But some kind of gifts transcends all, which is
why I find it funny when we say ‘Nigeria girls do not appreciate flowers as gift’.
It’s become such a popular saying, that it’s slowly becoming a norm accepted by all.
But we all know that to be false. Every girl is tender at heart and just like a flower
we deserve gifts that speak volumes about the thoughts behind it. A flower needs

TLC(tender loving care) to grow, same way it takes some TLC to win the love of a girl
Some might say gifting flowers is not part of our culture. But I wonder what gave Nollywood
the idea of lovers playing around with flowers in the village square. Most girls would appre-
ciate flowers but the mistakes we make are the occasion and mode of presentation.
I cannot think of any gesture that is more romantic than receiving a flower with a note
attached to it. Girls love romance and flowers create a platform for romance to bud and
even bloom. We sometimes lose sight of what is important and focus on the appearance
And grandiose of our gifts. We should try to remember that it is not always how big the noise
It makes but how big the impact is.
And if you still believe gifting or receiving flowers is not part of our culture then take this as a
Growing trend. After all, Nigerians never bothered with Christmas decorations but now it tells
Another story. A girl would always appreciate a flower gifted properly. So dear kings and queens
here are some tips to help you out while gifting a flower.
1. Flowers should not be gifts for only big occasions. Celebrations like birthdays and valentines are
always remembered and for some strange reasons very important to girls. While we try to learn
to understand the significance of flowers, let’s not go mainstream yet. Attach a box of chocolates
or teddy bear with the flowers.
2. The note is almost as important as the flower itself. Always attach a note .You don’t have to write
Shakespeare on it. Just a simple string of words to show her how much you care can send colors to
her cheeks.
3. Try Natural. Even though plastic flowers are more common to get and affordable, you may have to
try out natural flowers, they come with a certain ambience that plastic flowers can’t give you, if you
must go for plastic flowers then try out the ones that look natural and less synthetic.
4. Colors and moods. Flowers comes in different shapes and colors, so it is important to understand
What the color you are wearing signifies and if it’s right for the occasion.
Note that flowers must not be sent on big days only, you can send your girlfriend, wife, mum,
loved ones e.t.c a flower on a random day. Either delivered by hand or a delivery service at work
or at home and watch her fall in love with you all over again.
Even if she is Nigerian. Yes Nigerian girls love gifts that are quantifiable but we also love romance.
And flowers are a plus in that department, or maybe it’s not about Nigerian girls not appreciating
Flowers but Nigerian men not romantic enough to understand the importance of such a gesture.
