Probation Service recommends no jail for mother in case of child neglect

The woman can’t be named in order to protect the identity of the children

The Probation Service recommended that a 47-year-old woman will not be jailed concerning the emotional abuse of her children who suffered emotionally while in her care.

Today at the Criminal Court of Justice, Judge Melanie Greally said that the probation report on the woman recommends that she be placed under the supervision of Tusla.

Judge Melanie Greally said that she would enter into a bound period of 12months supervision,  attend all appointment with her probation officer, be of good behavior, engage in work as a migrant support worker, submit to the probation service, and comply with recommendation of Tusla, and give any change of her address during this period.

The Judge also asked her to pay a fine of 100euros. The next hearing will be in October 16th 2020 to give probation update.
